Azure instance billing

Azure instances use a Shared Nothing architecture and currently support only pay-as-you-go billing, charged by actual hours used. Prices on this page are for reference only. Please refer to the prices shown on the order page in the console.

Monthly cost estimates are calculated based on 730 hours and are for reference only. Actual charges are based on the billing center in the console.

Billing formula

  • Hourly instance cost = Compute node price + Storage cost + Storage IOPS cost
  • Storage cost = Storage unit price ($ / GiB / hr) × Number of replicas × Storage capacity (GiB)
  • Storage IOPS cost = IOPS unit price ($ / hr) × Number of replicas
  • Each instance spec has a minimum storage capacity. Actual storage usage cannot fall below this value; usage beyond the minimum is billed at the storage unit price.
Note
  • Both 2-replica and 3-replica deployment modes are supported. The pricing table lists the compute node price and starting total price for each mode, calculated based on the minimum storage capacity for each spec. When actual storage usage exceeds the minimum, the excess is billed separately at the storage unit price × number of replicas.
  • Monthly cost = Hourly instance cost × 730 hours.

Billing example

Assume you deploy a Shared Nothing instance in East US 2 with spec 8 vCPUs 32 GiB, 3-replica, and storage capacity of 100 GiB (minimum capacity), billed on a pay-as-you-go basis:

Pricing details

Note
  • Flagship Edition and Transactional instance specs have a one-to-one mapping (for example, Flagship Edition 8 vCPUs 32 GiB corresponds to Transactional 8 vCPUs 16 GiB). Both are priced identically.
  • The "Starting total" in the table is calculated based on the minimum storage capacity for each spec and includes storage costs and storage IOPS costs. Usage exceeding the minimum is billed separately.
